Ann Arbor had grown from a small college town and sleepy agricultural center to a burgeoning city with a taste for the good life and sense that it had arrived. America turned away from world affairs and now found excitement at home in the entertainment of movies and the promise of ever greater prosperity. It was in this atmosphere that J. Frederick Wuerth built the Wuerth Theatre, bringing images of the exotic and the sophisticated to his Main Street movie screen.
While renovating this historic space for "La Dolce Vita", we uncovered a portion of the original Theatre walls and discovered an extraordinary plaster relief. Unable to share this work in its original form, because of its location high above the kitchen ceiling, we decided to pay tribute by reproducing it as our symbol.
La Dolce Vita today offers the finest in after dinner pleasures including gourmet desserts expertly prepared by our own Pastry Chef , madeira, ports, cognacs, single malt scotches, and fine, hand-rolled cigars in a plush, elegant setting of comfortable leather and fine wood.
